I can't begin to list all of my many blessings, but my list would have to start with my family. I'm so grateful my parents remain in good enough health to come visit us this Thanksgiving.

We plan to have a traditional turkey dinner. Many thanks to my amazing wife for all of her preparations for this feast right down to my personal favorite -- my mom's special recipe for pecan pie.

I also plan to show my parents the latest installment of our ongoing series, "A Father's Strength." We are grateful to the Fox family for sharing their lives with Advocate readers. Reporter Erica Rodriguez tells me she almost feels like part of the family after more than a year of writing about these remarkable people.

Editors are only as good as their staffs, and I want to extend a special thank-you to the talented journalists who work so hard in the Advocate newsroom. The latest example of their skill and dedication is our special series, "A Father's Strength." It happened because Erica and former intern Drew Stewart cared deeply about the subject and wanted to share the story in a meaningful way.

I hope you enjoy our Thanksgiving Day installment of the series and will attend our world premiere of the companion documentary, "Breadth of Hope." Tickets are on sale at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts for the film, which shows at 6 p.m. Wednesday. You won't walk away the same after seeing this remarkable movie.

After the event, we also plan to introduce a special web page devote to the series and film.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
